Startupbootcamp InsurTech joins FinTech Investor Forum

Of all the established finance areas that fintech is starting to disrupt, few are gaining as much attention as insurance – and it’s easy to understand why.

The industry is inherently data-driven, but has never offered much beyond one-size-fits-all products to customers.

With startups becoming better at crunching data and understanding customer’s real needs with machine learning and artificial intelligence, existing insurers are unwittingly offering low-hanging fruit for eager newcomers to claim.

The space is also highly lucrative, and crosses over into other profitable areas such as proptech and healthcare.

This potential for revenue is driving more and more investors into the space with in excess of $22m pumped into UK companies so far this year – more than triple the total invested for the whole of last year.

With the space set to see a wave of innovation global accelerator Startupbootcamp chose London to headquarter the world’s first insurtech-dedicated incubator.

Startupbootcamp InsurTech’s managing director Sabine VanderLinden is the latest industry expert to join the FinTech Investor Forum.

Taking place in London on November 24th, she’ll share her insights on the industry as part of the InurTech CEO Perspective panel alongside company leaders, such as DigitalRisks CEO Cameron Shearer.

Insurtech investors, including Balderton Capital’s Rob Moffat, will also reveal where the best opportunities lie in the space.

Sabine counts almost a decade’s worth of experience in driving innovation in insurance having held roles as FICO’s first-ever European insurance client partner, worldwide director for insurance solutions at Pegasystems, global head of market strategy and propositions at insurance technology firm SSP and chief customer officer at Erudine.

Having previously served as an insurance mentor at Startupbootcamp Sabine is also the managing director and founder at innovation and consultancy agency The Proposition Circle.

She holds an MBA in strategy, international business and financial management from Cass Business School.
