Biography

Yusuf has over 40 years of experience in investing, investment consulting and banking. He currently acts as a professional pension fund trustee and consultant on investment matters.

Till July 2018, Yusuf was an Investment Principal at the Pension Protection Fund responsible for managing the alternative credit, global real estate and private equity portfolios.

Before joining the PPF in 2012, Yusuf was a senior investment consultant with Aon Hewitt advising UK pension schemes. He served as Secretary to the Marathon Club, a group of trustees and senior executives that promoted and issued guidance on long-term investing for pension schemes.

Formerly a trustee and investment committee member of the Citibank (UK) Pension Scheme, Yusuf is presently a trustee of the Sodexo Pension Scheme.

Yusuf has over 25 years experience as a banker with Citibank. He was a Senior Credit Officer and Managing Director for relationship banking with the fund management sector in the UK and Europe and a corporate banker in Bahrain and Pakistan.

Yusuf is a Fellow of the Society of Investment Professionals, a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA). He was Chairman of CFA UK and served on its board for 11 years. Yusuf holds an MBA from the University of Wisconsin- Madison and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the same university.

Yusuf is actively engaged in education and training. He teaches the Endowment Model and Pension Fund Investment on the Topics in Asset Management course at London Business School. He has worked as a trainer for the CFA curriculum and has developed and delivered training in portfolio management, fund manager selection, corporate finance and credit analysis. He organises the Value Investing Stammtisch, a group that meets monthly to discuss individual investment opportunities.
