Biography

Pooma Kimis is Deputy Managing Director at OMFIF. She is responsible for building and enhancing relationships with senior officials at central banks, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and debt management offices in the public sector, and asset managers, hedge funds and their relevant counterparts in the private sector.

Kimis plays an active role in consolidating knowledge about the interfaces among these global public investors and enhancing OMFIF’s institutional links. She directs OMFIF’s research activity with official institutions as well as the private sector. Recent themes include reserve management, securities lending and capital markets liquidity, cross-border flows and related regulation, and asset allocation strategies.

Prior to joining OMFIF in January 2012, she was at a boutique private equity firm before moving into the real estate finance team, and then the fixed income team at a global investment bank.

Kimis takes a keen interest in entrepreneurship and finance for social good. She is Partner and Co-Founder at Earth Heir, a luxury ethical craftsmanship brand which infuses modern design into traditional crafts and abides by fairtrade principles. She is a city committee member in children’s mental health charity, Place2Be, under the royal patronage of the Duchess of Cambridge.

Born in Malaysia, Kimis speaks Malay, Tamil and French. She is closely involved in Asian and African affairs and frequently comments on current topics of interest. She is an active University College London (UCL) alumnus, holds a postgraduate in Law and enrolled at the Solicitors Regulation Authority in the UK.
