Investor interest is very high
Following the recent downturn in the performance of the mega funds, the real estate sector has taken centre stage in the portfolios of European and international institutional investors.
An AltAssets survey of LPs shows that a majority of LPs believe that the real estate sector will offer superior returns over the next few years. Many are actively looking to increase the number of relationships they have with real estate groups and are keen to identify and connect with promising managers.
However, with so many private equity firms entering or re-entering the space, and with some others rebranding themselves as real estate specialists, the sector is becoming crowded and LPs believe they have some work to do in order to pick out the future leaders from the ever-growing pack of followers.
The most active Limited Partners will attend
A wide range of LPs who have helped create this Forum or provided their views on the real estate sector, are scheduled to attend. In addition, other LPs throughout the world who have expressed a strong interest in the sector have been invited.
Virtually all participating LPs already have exposure to the sector and most are keen to invest in new funds over the next year or to build relationships with GPs for the medium-term. Many LPs are eager to understand how real estate firms are attempting to differentiate themselves and many are more open to new GP relationships than in any other sector.
