There’s a new blockchain consortium in town with the announcement of the Shanghai Industrial Development Blockchain Alliance.
Mimicking a similar initiative underway in Shenzen the alliance aims to turn Shanghai into a region hub for blockchian technology.
Its members include Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Research Institute, Wanxiang Blockchain Lab and Hyperledger member BitSE.
The announcement follows discussions between the Shanghai government and local blockchain companies this summers.
The organisation is being sponsored by China Finance Information Center, an office complex that’s home to a number of financial services.
It will help to promote the alliance and support it as a meeting place for the institutions and startups involved.
