FinTech Zopa is launching a bank

Zopa, the London-fintech credited with inventing peer-to-peer lending, is launching a challenger bank. The company said in a press release on Wednesday that the bank will sit alongside its peer-to-peer lending business, set up in 2005, but says it will “enhance their market-leading peer-to-peer business.” Investors on the platform will be offered savings and deposit services from the new bank, while those looking to borrow will be offered overdrafts as an alternative.
