Shane Swords

Shane is NextEnergy Capital’s Managing Director and Head of Investor Relations, where his responsibilities include relationships with all existing and potential investors that align with the company’s investment strategies.

Shane has over 20 years of experience in fundraising, M&A and debt, with specialities including sell-side/buy-side equity advisory, equity capital raising and arranging/structuring debt transactions in renewable energy and infrastructure projects globally. Most recently, Shane was Head of Institutional Fundraising at Downing LLP, where he structured and raised its first institutional fund, the Downing £125 million Flexible Generation Fund. Prior to this, he created a £1 billion solar platform with a large institutional investor.

Shane was also one of the initial Directors at Rubicon Capital Advisors, where he led several capital raises, buy-side M&A and sell-side M&A, including a US$750 million capital raise for an energy platform from the Canadian pension fund, PSP Investments. Shane graduated from University College Dublin in Commerce and a Master’s in Business Studies.
