Mekong made the deal from its $100m Vietnam Azalea Fund, which was launched in 2007.

• VinaCapital hires new managing director to oversee fundraising 02 Apr 2009. VinaCapital Group, a Vietnamese asset management firm, has appointed Stacy Kincaid a fund portfolio managing director. In her new role, Kincaid will oversee the structuring and capital raising efforts for VinaCapital investments including real estate and infrastructure projects, as well as planned limited partnerships.

• VinaCapital lists jewellery business on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange 26 Mar 2009. Source: AltAssets. VinaCapital Vietnam Opportunity Fund Limited, an AIM-quoted investment vehicle focused on Vietnam, has completed the IPO of its investee company Phu Nhuan Jewelry, listing the business on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange.

• Vietnamese search engine Socbay.com closes latest funding round 24 Mar 2009. Source: AltAssets. Naiscorp Information Technology, developer of the Vietnamese search engine Socbay, has secured Series B venture capital funding led by SoftBank China & India's Bodhi Fund. IDG Venture Vietnam also participated in the funding round, though the amount raised was not disclosed. Naiscorp intends to use the funding to drive the development and growth of the Socbay Vietnamese language search engine Socbay.com.

VinaCapital, a Vietnamese asset management firm, has sold its $20m equity stake in Vietnamese food and beverage company Masan Group. The firm held the stake via its Vietnam Opportunity Fund, an AIM-quoted investment vehicle focused on Vietnam.
