VBO teams up with Payworks of POS card payments

VBO Tickets is partnering with mobile card reader Payworks to integrate the company’s device into VBO’s mobile apps.

The partnerships comes as the US banks switch to chip-enabled EMV cards payments.

VBO’s ticketing systems allow event organisers to sell tickets online and manage their box office, but by partnering with Munich-based Payworks the company will be able to offer point-of-sale (POS) technology so event organisers can sell tickets at physical locations through EMV card payments.

Payworks’ EMV card readers will be integrated into VBO Touch, the company’s iOS and Android app, with the devices connecting to mobile devices via Bluetooth. Payments will be processed through Payworks’ Pulse payments gateway.

“We expect more than 50% of VBO clients to use the VBO Touch app with the card acceptance component provided by Payworks in the next 12 months,” ssaid VBO President and co-founder David Boehme. “And soon enough, this will become an integral solution for EMV card processing inside VBO Touch.”

Payworks raised seed funding in 2013 in a round led by Speedinvest.
