Insurance giant joins FinTech Investor Forum

One of the prevailing trends in fintech is the shift of traditional financial business from sitting ducks for disruption to actively engaged partners and investors in the startup space.

This is proving beneficial to both parties as the reach of fintech spreads from one-time transactions like payments to relationship-based services such as mortgages and insurance.

The established brand names and wide distribution networks of incumbents can help startups gain the trusts that is so crucial to winning over consumers when handling their wealth.

InsurTech in particular is seeing many established firms move into the venture space as startups highlight new ways technology can overhaul the industry.

Despite being founded in 1880, German reinsurer Munich Re is ensuring it stays relevant through its Digital Partners programme that partners and invests in insurtech startups.

The firm recently struck deals to underwrite for on-demand insurance platform Trov and pay-per-use startup Slice, while also investing heavily in its own big data crunching capabilities.

Munich Re Digital Partner’s partner engagement manager Jennyfer Yeung-Williams is the latest insurtech speaker to join the FinTech Investor Forum.

She will discuss just what insurers can do in-house to keep ahead of innovation as part of the Major Insurance Company Perspective panel.

Jennyfer worked in the captive industry in Dublin for 10 years, sitting on the board of the Michelin captives, before joining Munich Re.

She worked in Munich Re Singapore and Toronto, where she led the Innovation team focussed on sharing economies, before joining Digital Partners.

Jennyfer is joined at the event by other top corporate investors such as AXA Strategic Ventures, as well as insurtech investors from firms like Balderton Capital, Orange Growth Capital and Talis Capital.

Taking place in London on November 24th, this exclusive event is limited to just 300 tickets. If you want to gain insights and connect with leading investors and startup CEO from across the fintech landscape please contact Aaron Sohdi at asohdi@altassets.net.
